Scuba Diving in Cozumel with Sand Dollar Sports

For over 40 years, Sand Dollar Sports has been working diligently to preserve the beautiful Mesoamerican Reef. We helped co-found the Cozumel Reefs National Park and ANOAAT (the Association of Aquatic Tourism Operators). Both were major steps toward giving Cozumel’s reefs the protection they desperately needed. A year later, we opened a dive shop at the Reef Club Cozumel—not just to serve divers, but to educate them. That same goal: education, has guided us nearly every step since.

We actively work with the CCRRP (Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program), Coral Reef Alliance, and other local NGOs to grow and restore damaged corals in the coral nursery and then plant them in the Villablanca Reef. All of our staff have been trained by German Mendez, the founder of the CCRRP. They are also certified by Green Fins. Green Fins is a global conservation program that works to reduce the environmental impact of diving and snorkeling while helping protect coral reefs and marine ecosystems.
