What Is SNUBA and How Does It Work?
No Scuba Certification Required
SNUBA is designed for beginners, so you don’t need any scuba diving license or previous experience. After a short safety briefing from your guide, you’ll be ready to go. This makes SNUBA one of the most accessible ways to experience Cozumel’s underwater world for first-time visitors, families, and cruise guests.
Breathe Underwater with Ease
Instead of carrying heavy scuba tanks, you breathe through a regulator connected to an air hose that floats on the surface. This system allows you to move naturally underwater while your guide manages all the equipment and safety details. You simply relax, breathe normally, and enjoy the reef life below.
Safe and Easy for Beginners
SNUBA is closely supervised by professional guides at all times, making it a safe introduction to underwater exploration. You’ll stay at shallow depths, receive clear instructions, and be accompanied throughout the entire experience. It’s ideal for anyone who is comfortable snorkeling and wants to take the next step into diving without the complexity of scuba training.

SNUBA Equipment Primer
SNUBA diving offers an innovative way to explore underwater environments without the need for heavy equipment or prior certification. The SNUBA system comprises several key components:
SNUBA Raft: This high-quality inflatable raft remains on the water’s surface, securely holding the compressed air cylinders. It accommodates either two participants (Standard Raft) or four (Quad Raft) and is designed for easy towing, ensuring stability and accessibility during the dive.
Air Delivery System: Divers breathe through standard scuba regulators connected to a 20-foot buoyant air line. This line links to the air cylinders on the raft, allowing participants to explore depths up to 20 feet without carrying tanks on their backs.
Harness: A lightweight, adjustable harness attaches the diver to the air line, facilitating effortless towing of the raft and providing freedom of movement underwater.
Mask and Fins: Similar to snorkeling gear, divers use masks and fins. The fins are designed to minimize foot fatigue, promoting comfortable and controlled swimming.
Weight Belt: Customized weight belts help achieve neutral buoyancy, allowing divers to maintain their desired depth with ease.
SNUBA Doo Vest: For younger participants, specially designed flotation vests ensure safety and comfort, making SNUBA accessible to children aged six and above.
This thoughtfully designed equipment makes SNUBA an approachable and enjoyable activity for individuals and families alike, offering a unique opportunity to experience the underwater world with ease.
