Protect Your Dive Adventures With

DAN Dive Insurance

Accidents can happen to anyone while diving. The last thing you want is to be uninsured.

Why Dive Insurance is Essential

Scuba diving is an exhilarating adventure, but like any sport, it comes with inherent risks. DAN Dive insurance is essential for protecting divers from unexpected medical expenses that can arise from dive-related accidents such as decompression sickness (DCS), barotrauma, or other underwater emergencies. Without coverage, treatment costs—including hyperbaric chamber sessions, emergency medical evacuation, and hospital care—can quickly add up to thousands of dollars. Having dive insurance ensures that you can focus on your recovery rather than worrying about costly medical bills. At Sand Dollar Sports, we strongly recommend that all divers carry dive insurance to enjoy a worry-free experience exploring Cozumel’s stunning reefs.

Frequently Asked Questions about DAN Membership and Dive Accident Insurance

Does DAN Membership alone cover medical expenses for a dive accident?

No, DAN Membership primarily provides emergency medical transportation to the nearest appropriate medical facility if you’re 50 miles (80 km) or more from home, regardless of whether the emergency is diving-related. However, it does not cover medical treatment costs, such as hospital charges or hyperbaric treatments. To cover these expenses, dive accident insurance is necessary.

DAN Dive Accident Insurance is designed to cover medical expenses resulting from diving incidents. This includes costs associated with hyperbaric chamber treatments, hospital care, and other related services. It’s essential because traditional health insurance plans often exclude coverage for diving-related incidents.

Yes, it’s recommended to have both. DAN Membership provides emergency medical transportation, while Dive Accident Insurance covers the actual treatment costs for covered diving-related injuries. Note that you must be a DAN member to purchase Dive Accident Insurance.
